    SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

BCV Architects designed the three retail stores in the California Academy of Sciences. From its green roof to its natural ventilation, the new Academy building is truly part of Golden Gate Park and its ecosystem. It’s a living and breathing building that makes a connection to its physical surroundings. The millwork showcases wood veneers from 19 different species found in the Park, trees such as Monterey Cypress, Black Walnut and American Elm. These stores also feature numerous historic artifacts from the old Academy, including the Steinhart Aquarium doors, the Morrison Planetarium skyline panels and the original Academy library table.
